The high output of the KraussMaffei Berstorff single-screw extruders requires suitable polyolefin pipe heads with spiral distributor system
The pipe heads of this series are designed in accordance with the spiral distributor principle and cover a large bandwidth of diameters and wall thicknesses—thus pipe diameters from 5 mm to 2500 mm can be produced. The specific design of the spiral geometry and the melt channels creates a gentle feeding of material as well as short flushing and cleaning times.
The principle of manufacturing from single- and multi-layer pipes with pipe heads for polyolefins is based on the exactly matched combination of radial melt flow in the channel and axial melt flow via the webs. The spiral distributor pipe heads from KraussMaffei Berstorff are optimally stepped: The diameter range is 5 mm to 2500 mm and includes 13 pipe head sizes. By using short die extensions, not much effort is required for the dimension change. Once a die centering has been carried out, it can simply be applied when changing the short die extension.
In addition, spiral distributor technology is also perfectly suited for the production of multi-layered pipes, because they offer a number of advantages from the standpoint of production and process technology that pay off in manufacturing in many respects. The spiral distributors can be used not only for the manufacturing from inner and intermediate layers, but also for outer layers, and enable the production of various pressure classes.
